Would you pay 919 NIS for a trash can?

Would you pay 919 NIS for a trash can? We’ve been looking for a new trash can for awhile now, something big enough to hold more than a days worth of stuff, and small enough to not overpower our small kitchen. This is Brabantia trash can from Hometags isn’t it. This trash can is 30 liters and 73 cms high. It also costs over 900 NIS. It’s gorgeous and really well made - but 919 NIS? Well, if you’ve got it, good on ya.

Last weekend we went to Monsour in Osefiya (a druze village up the hill from Dalyat Ha Carmel - take the main road all the way around and it’s on your left before the turn for Beit Oren.) The place is 2 stories of imported stuff cheaper than anywhere else. They carry kitchen things, indian furniture (the white, the dark, and the painted), and curtains. They had trash cans (not this nice mind you) but this size, with the peddle for opening, for about 200 NIS if memory serves correctly. They do not have a website.

On the other hand, if this is the normal size Chef’n salt or pepper grinder then it is a great price on Hometags. I know that the page is calling it Mini, but I don’t know how small that is. I just know that the normal one costs around 99 NIS typically and this one featured costs 59.90 NIS.

I’ve been wanting one of those for so long, but the hubby bought me a copy ages ago and since it works fine I just can’t justify buying something I don’t really need just because I want it. **sigh**

I want. I want. I want.

I had a marble pestle and mortar that I used regularly to create marinades and pesto (with basel from the garden). Grinding by hand brings out so much more flavor then throwing all the ingredients in a mixer.

So what happened to the pestle and mortar? I put the pestle (or is it the mortar) down on the counter, it rolled off, and cracked in two. That was a very upsetting day.

I want. I want. I want. Cilio 589 NIS.
