Organic bedding by West Elm

Bedding by West Elm

Kudos for this new line of organic bedding offered by West Elm, the American home furnishings retailer.  I usually love their designs and hate their quality, but this line of sheets and bed covers sets itself apart from the norm.  Organic home furnishings is the latest craze and now it can be found in mainstream stores, I featured towels from Pottery Barn  while back.  I love the “pin-tuck” duvet shown above.

The styling of this line is refreshing with soft updated Spring colors and  texture.  The pin-tuck is a take off on the ruffle which is making a fashionable splash in home furnishings and fashion as of late.  here’s more of the collection from West Elm.

I am in love with this next item.  A textured organic cotton duvet to die for.   See the closeup for more detail on the pattern.

And then there are the pacifying floral prints… West Elm has done it the right way for Spring bedding 2010.

This is dumb question, but why is organic better than non-organic from a customer’s point of view? For example, is the quality better, the price less expensive?

Hi tammy,
Tammy,
That’s actually a very good question. Organic products are generally grown / produced with no chemicals involved. This is a biggie if you are alergic to certain dyestuffs and / or chemicals. It is especially important when you address the subject of bedding because this is where you spend a lot of time wrapped in the cloth IE: Sheets. Also organic refers to the use of 100% natural materials such as cotton. When cotton is washed it takes on a soft, cozy hand and this is what sets it apart from a polyester blend. And lastly, the processing of organic materials is usually better for the environment being that the chemical run-off generated in production will not be present.

What’s not to like?!
