Creative Ways to Wrap It Up

I am all in favour of making gifts instead of buying them especially given the economic situation and the world’s depleting resources. But since it’s quite late in the holiday season, I thought I would just wrap creatively.

These are wine bottles wrapped in dish towels. A real simple and environmentally friendly idea.

I’m always collecting and storing things in case I can use them for something in the future (I know we’re called pack-rats!).  So I like new uses for old things.

I’m sure I have a skipping rope somewhere in the house. I would have decorated the white paper with stickers, stamps or paint blotches.

Here is something we all have around the house: old newspapers, magazines and maps.

John Boak’s website shows how to take pieces of paper, tape, glue or double-sided tape and create wrap art.

This very small wrap collage is made out of blue wallpaper, black-dotted-red paper “ribbon” (I would use an old necktie) and berries from a bush.

Here is a great idea when you don’t have enough wrapping paper to cover the gift. The top is special yellow art paper and the bottom is a shopping bag.

Above is another two- fragment technique. An obvious choice for small packages, it reminds me of Merci chocolates.

Then there are simple fabric gift bags that can be stitched.

Here is an example from Martha Stewart for a pouch to wrap a CD. It can later be used as a sachet or small travel toiletries bag.

Very cool! I always wrap presents in interesting ways. Pieces of cloth, boxes made of magazines and stuff like that. Keep the creative juices flowing… Making personalized cards is also fun, though time consuming, I will not lie.
