Composting in a small space

nature-mill-composter Composting in a small spaceBusyboo is an amazing architecture and design blog by Vered Carmel who is also based in Israel. Today she had a post featuring the Nature Mill indoor composter. This is so cool.

I checked out their site, and they ship to Israel for $36.

Since the product costs over $50 (they range in price from $299 - $399) you will have to pay 15.5% tax. Even still, this is so worth it.

Custom-made kitchens to die for

leshem Custom-made kitchens to die forMishalot, the design team of Meirav and her life partner Roi, create gorgeous kitchens.

They live in the north, but will travel to the center for kitchen design. Mishalot also does furniture out of ‘full wood’ which is just beautiful.

If only I needed a new kitchen. Look at that green hutch. A perfect addition if you want a standing kitchen that you can take with you. Below is an amazing blue island with a place for everything you could possibly need.

Meirav sent me a bunch of fantastic photos of their work. These two were favorites - but if you aren’t into the painted look they have plenty for you as well. Just check out their website.

Finding the perfect flatware is not easy

January 4th, 2008 Shira Abel Shvo Posted in kitchen No Comments »

more_flatware Finding the perfect flatware is not easyFinding just the right flatware (silverware for those of us from the old school) can be a challenge. The right weight, stainless steel, style and design makes getting what one wants a challenge.

Designers have heard the cries of the unsatiated and have started making flatware for those craving something simple, classic, and modern.

BROGGI (left) is an Italian designed set from Home Design. The price is 799 NIS for a full set of 12 (48 pieces).

ALBERT is also from Home Design and costs 499 NIS for a full set of 12 (48 pieces).

No one can argue that Israelis love to cook

img46l No one can argue that Israelis love to cook
Israelis take their food very seriously, from the preparation to the presentation.

Half of the food programs on television are celebrities going to peoples homes and cooking with them. Last night I watched ‘In the Kitchen with Margol’ (Ba Mitbach em Margol) where she cooked with a Khurdi woman and talked about every sort of ‘kube’ possible. I had never even heard of pita kube before.

So it isn’t surprising that the country is in love with cooking gadgets as well, and few are more coveted than the Le Creuset cast iron pot for the serious cook.

Domo and Grub (my preferred shopping spot) carry Le Creuset (above). No one can argue that Israelis love to cook

But if Le Creuset is over the budget, IKEA offers an awsome alternative (left). Also cast iron, also made in France.

I’m getting hungry just thinking about it…

a-designer.co.il

faucets a-designer.co.ilGoogle.co.il is my new best friend. I can put things in English and find exactly what I am looking for.

Ok, that’s not true.

I was looking for Domo’s website (the Sur La Table of Israel) and came accross a bunch of other cool things instead. But I’m totally ok with that.

I went to where Domo should be and the page was completely blank. They also don’t have a listing. Could something be up with the great kitchen store?

I found a-designer instead and inspired logo aside, this site is wonderful. It’s a portal with every possible furnishing or finish your home could possibly ever want.

They have the hardcore modern which so many in Israel like, and the more country home look that many of us transplants miss.

The lamp to the right is just bizarre, and I have no idea why I like it. It wouldn’t fit anywhere in my house, my youngest would definitely break it (if my cleaner didn’t do it first) and it’s kind of tacky. Yet I still like it.

On the other hand, these are just screaming out ‘BUY ME FOR YOUR KITCHEN’. I wonder if these came in something a tad more colorful? Must take a closer look…
